Cuan, Ireland’s Domestic, Sexual and Gender-Based Violence Agency, launched “Hardest Stories” as its first national awareness campaign. The headline captures the essence of survivor-centered advocacy: “The stories that are hardest to tell, need to be told.” Centered on television adverts that depict survivors’ memories of abuse—how they felt, how they continue to feel—the campaign also features radio and digital assets presenting stories from men, women, and the LGBT+ community. Critically, the campaign calls on the public to take an active role, providing information on how to support victims, what signs to look for, and how to use one’s voice to make change happen.
