Msts+hungary !!better!! [2025]

A route is only as good as the trains running on it. The Hungarian MSTS community has created digital replicas of virtually every locomotive to ever run on Hungarian rails.

Because many original Hungarian MSTS sites were hosted on older platforms like atw.hu , the community has shifted toward modern hubs and social media:

: One of the largest and most detailed routes, covering a massive portion of the Hungarian Great Plain. It connects major hubs like Budapest, Debrecen, and Szeged. Balaton-Déli (South Balaton)

When MSTS first launched, it featured a limited selection of routes from the US, UK, Europe, and Japan. Hungarian rail enthusiasts quickly realized the simulator's engine could be used to recreate their own domestic network, managed by the state railway company, MÁV (Magyar Államvasutak).

The Hungarian MSTS community is more than a group of gamers; it is a digital preservation society. Over the last two decades, MÁV has retired many older locomotives, closed down historic branch lines, and modernized classic stations.

Running Hungarian content on stock MSTS is frustrating. The original game had memory limits that cause crashes on long routes like Budapest–Debrecen.

In the years following the game's release, a dedicated group of Hungarian creators and enthusiasts emerged to build content that brought the country's rail network to life. This vibrant community was centered around several key websites, with becoming the primary hub for a huge variety of downloads, including detailed routes, realistic locomotives, passenger cars, and custom activities.

: Perfect for summer vibes, this route takes you from Budapest-Déli along the southern bank of Lake Balaton towards Nagykanizsa.
