When you drop a clip onto a sequence that doesn’t match its settings, Premiere will usually ask if you want to change the sequence to match the clip. Using the right preset from the start avoids rendering glitches, black bars, or mismatched audio sync.
Don’t delete the factory presets. Even if you never shoot on an XDCAM EX camera, some of those older presets have unique timebase options or rendering codecs that can be useful for specific exports (like creating a digital intermediate for color grading).
Always set this to Square Pixels (1.0) unless you are working with legacy tape formats or specialized anamorphic lenses.
